Vision:why does it matter?

VISION.The google gave me two meanings for this word.First one,the eye vision - the state of being able to see.Second,an experience of seeing something in dream or trance.I'm interested in the second one but will use the first one for a correlation.Eye vision;why does it matter? It is required to see what is there in front of us or something at a reasonable distance. It has limitation of how far you can see.The second one is nothing but envisioning the future. This can be done two ways.Just predicting something out of no where or predicting/seeing the future based on technological advancements, social and political arrangements.People who fall into second category are called VISIONARIES.

Whenever,I hear this word VISIONARY,the first person who comes to my mind is 'LKY'.'Father of nation' for Singapore Mr.Lee.Singapore is what it is today because of this man.He was the main reason for Singapore transformation from a third world country to first world country in single generation.I repeat,in single generation. What he did was he understood where the country was standing when it got independence from Malaysia, envisioned where the country has to reach.Set up goals and achieved them. One of my favorite quotes of his,"I do not yet know of a man who became a leader as a result of having undergone a leadership course".

 So why does VISION  matter?
  •  To make our journey meaningful,to bring in a purpose.
  • To prep ourselves;to foresee both opportunities and roadblocks.
  • To create optimism in self or organization.

There are born visionaries.Right from childhood, they develop a thinking of seeing the entire line.Thinking BIG.But upon self reflection,if one recognizes the importance of having a vision, visionary thinking can be developed over a period of time. And the desire to be a visionary leader has to come from with in.
